So I made a previous entry on Roy's stay here in Manila. Here's the compilation of the descriptions I included in the Facebook albums:
Date: August 17
Location: Katipunan Avenue, Loyola Heights, Quezon City, Philippines
Roy Moore went to Ateneo today!
Monse first met with him at the cafeteria for lunch. After our Ph104 class, Jess and I went to the cafeteria met him. Roy was able to meet some of my coursemates and friends.
At around 2:30, we left the cafteria for AMS room, where Monse's bags are. Reg joined us after as we went to BlueSkies outside to play Rockband, for 2 hours. It was my first time doing that so I had a lot of fun!
We were heading back to Ateneo at around 5, and found ourselves too late for the talk. I'll attend the last two talks to make up for my absence today.
Since papa was already in Ateneo, we decided to ride the way to TriNoma. I dropped off Reg, Monse and Roy there, where they had dinner.
Till next time Roy!

Today, Monse and I met our British friend, Roy Moore. Roy's here for a charity. He's working for "The Mango Tree" which is like an orphanage in ways. This is his second time in the Philippines.
Original Plan: Ride the car until Montalban, go around Mango Tree, play pingpong or watch movie with the kids, or go to a mall.
What happened: After a series of conversations with Monse and Roy, it was decided to just meet in TriNoma at 11.
I arrived there quite early, and decided to stay in McDonald's to wait for them. While trying to study Th131 (yes, I am a nerd), a series of events happened:
1. A kid got lost/left behind and screamed so loud near the concierge
2. Siblings (aged 8 or below) shouted and fought behind me because of the toilet
3. A man went inside to ask a random person what time it is, with an angry aura.
These are things which we don't normally notice or take note of, but it just so happened that they grabbed my attention. Haha.
I decided to go up to the 2nd floor, to Starbucks specifically, where Roy met me. A few minutes later (and by that I mean 30 minutes. Haha!), Monse and her friend Meka arrived.
We had lunch at the foodcourt, and went to Red Mango for yogurt dessert.
Monse and Meka had to leave soon, so plans for Mango Tree were cancelled. Maybe next time.
Date: September 13, 2009

Today, I met-up with my British friend Roy. Monse and Jess were also with us today. Today's Roy's last night here in the Philippines. He will be flying tomorrow to Singapore, staying there for a week or so before flying back to UK.
I was in TriNoma at 4 PM with my father. He stayed in Seattle's Best until I was done, as he was finish some drawings. I didn't expect to actually be out for long too, and didn't know what's planned for us.
I went to Food Choices and met Roy there. Roy treated me for some ice cream. Thanks man!
Jess soon arrived. After some time, we went to Cabalen to meet Monse and her family (- kuya and regine). Instead of eating there, we ended up eating at Gerry's Grill. Vegetarian Roy. Thank you to the Onglao family for the wonderful dinner!
At 7:15, I left Roy, Monse and Jess at Gerry's Grill as I had to meet papa. Before going home, we went to Tokyo Tokyo for papa to have dinner.
Roy, we'll see you in less than a year. Take care and be good. Haha.
We had fun during Roy's stay. See you again pal!

Long time!
It's been a long time since I've made a blog entry.
Roy Moore
Anyway, what has happened in the last month or so? I have had the chance to meet-up with Roy for a couple of times, along with Monse, sometimes with Jess and with Gwen. We always happened to meet-up in TriNoma. So I'm quite familiar with TriNoma by now.
He stayed in the Philippines for almost 3 months. Sadly, we never had the chance to go to Mango, the charity where he stayed in the last 3 months. He flew yesterday to Singapore before going home to UK.
Up
I had the chance to finally watch Up! It was last Wednesday, September 9, with Jman, Aaron and Hector. Like what Yushi said, I totally liked/loved the film. It was heart-warming and at the same time, quite hilarious. I have to say that Up isn't one of the best movies I've watched, but it sure is memorable.
Perhaps I better write more frequently from now on. I'll post some short blog entries about the last one and half months soon.

It's a Roy Day!
July 18, 2009
After MTAP at DEECO, I spent a day with Roy Moore, our British friend whom we met at NUS.
I met first with Gwen and Jess as we were there before 1. We settled at the Food Choices and waited for Roy to arrive at 1:30. I bought a Pesto Pasta at one of the stalls while Roy initially bought 4 big slices of Cheese Pizza. Gwen commented and told us that we might get a discount if we buy the whole pizza, so I went to the manager and asked if it's possible to do that. And he agreed.
After eating, we had a short chat on poverty and politics. We then went to Timezone and played games for an hour or so while waiting for Monse. We were initially tried watching a movie but the queue was so long.
We went back to Food Choices (the foodcourt). Soon, Monse and EC arrived. At 6, Jess and EC left as Jess had to go Shang while EC had to meet a friend. Soon after, Gwen left as her driver's already there.
Monse, Roy and I went to DQ and bought DQ sandwiches and Strawberry Banana Blizzard. A few minutes later, Roy's friend, Craig arrived, just in time when I had to leave.
The day was basically a TriNoma Day. We had fun!
----------------------------------------------
It took us quite a long time to meet Roy. After 32 days of him in the Philippines, this was the first time we met him. I hope we can make it up to him somehow.

Jesse's Visit (Second Half) - June 12-15, 2009
June 12, 2009 - Today was a rest day. Due to some car problems, Jess and I opted not to go with Monse and Jesse, and Monse's friends. But Jesse got sick, so they ended up not going out for the day.
June 13, 2009 - Avilon Zoo!
We went today to Avilon Montalban Zoo.
Papa, together with Abby, dropped me off at Shell-Commonwealth. We were there early so we went to QC Circle first. Jess, together with Jesse, her mom, dad ans sister Janey picked me up at around 2.
My sister gave me directions on going to Avilon Zoo, and so I was charged to be the navigator. On the way there, we got lost twice, once when we overshot Litex Road (as then we didn't no that we had to go through there) and ended up entering Fairview, and 2nd one when we overshot Montalban Highway, as there were no road signs.
The dirt road to Avilon Zoo was frustrating. It was really bad! Monse with her mom, dad, kuya Mark, brothers Nico, Mario and sister Eana arrived later on, a little after 4. We had a tour guide with us at the last minute and went around the zoo for almost 3 hours.
We saw live birds in snake cages, waiting to be eaten; albino cows; pink flamingos; chicken heads being fed to big fish; long necked emu and ostrich; monkeys; leopard and goats; tigers; and even cats (big and small).
Jess's dad dropped me off at Petron-Commonwealth.
Thank you to Jess's Family and Monse's Family for a fun trip!
June 14, 2009 - Photos of memorabilia for Jesse. I met Jesse and Monse at the entrance of the Valle Verde Country Club.
The last day I saw Jesse here in the Philippines, as he was scheduled to fly the day after, to Taiwan at 11:15 AM, flying with Cebu Pacific Air.
Till next time Jesse!

Jesse's Visit (First Half) - June 7-11, 2009
Jesse, our Venezuelan-Canadian friend whom we met at NUS, came here to the Philippines to visit us.
June 7, 2009 - Jesse flew with Tiger Airways from Singapore to Clark. He took the bus from Clark to Megamall and arrived there at around 11, three hours earlier than the scheduled arrival time. Monse picked him up at Megamall and brought him to her house. They then went to Eastwood.
June 8, 2009 - Jesse and Monse went to Shangri-La Mall to watch a free French Film. They went to Jollibee afterwards to eat palabok.
June 9, 2009 - Together with my mom and sisters, we went to Taft Avenue to pick-up Monse and Jesse at Kenny Roger's (though they were waiting at Jollibee). They went to the Vietnamese Embassy there to process Jesse's Visa. We then went to Seaside at Macapagal Avenue, where we met-up with Gwen. We went to the wet market and bought seafood. We then went to Shaylin Restaurant to have the food cooked. We ate there until 2. Gwen soon left as we went to Manila Ocean Park. Jesse, Monse and I went around the Oceanarium for 2 and a half hours before my father and 2nd sister picked us up. We dropped off Monse and Jesse at Cityland Tower 2.
June 10, 2009 - Enrollment Day for Ateneans. I went to OAA where I saw Jess at Kostka Hall, and at first got surprised that I had to pay for my overload. After talking to Ate Tin, they fixed it so that I won't have to pay anything. I went to the Student Accounts counter to ask for the diploma and yearbook, but it turns out that it is okay that I did not buy the yearbook yet. I then went on line for the cashiering for validation. I went to SEC with Jess to meet some friends. I then met Gwen, Smile and Wayne, along with Jess at the Kostka Extension. Monse soon arrived with Jesse. EC happened to pass by, so we took a group photo.
Smile had to re-do her assessment with Wayne and Gwen with her. Monse had to finish her OAA problems, so Jess and I toured Jesse around Ateneo. After 1 hour, the three of us met-up with Smile, Gwen and Wayne at the cafeteria and had lunch there. Monse oon joined us. We then walked to LRT 2 Station. We alighted at Gilmore, then walekd a bit and rode 2 jeepneys before we walked for a little more to Jess's house. We watched Wowowee, The Curse of the Golden Flower (though we didn't finish this) and Jess's CCP performance.
As Charles arrived, the rest of us left for Gateway. The three of us then went to Timezone and spent the time playing. (Fail: We went to this videoke booth. We played the song "Breaking Free". When we were about to start, we realized that there was no microphone.)
June 11, 2009 - Tagayatay! Papa and my 1st sister went with us. At 8, we were at Taft Ave. Station (end of MRT). Jess arrived at around 8:10. Monse and Jesse arrived at 8:30. We reached Tagaytay at 10-ish. We then went to Caleruega as our 1st stop. We stayed there for quite some time. The church was stunning! We saw a child with whom Monse played with.
We then went to Leslie's to have lunch. Food was kinda expensive, but the food was great. (Fail: The ledge was kinda high, but Monse decided to jump from where we're eating to the lower cement floor. She miscalcuated the height and when she jumped, she accidentally scraped her palm.)
We went to Lourdes Church and stayed there for a short while. The church was big, though not as big as how I remembered it before.
After the church, we went to People's Park in the Sky. We rode a jeep up for 40 pesos per jeep (just 4 people!). It wasn't worth it, though. The place was in ruins, even if they were rnovating it, supposedly. I had fun though, taking photos. We saw the child from Caleruega again! Two times in this place.
We then went to Picnic Grove, but found the prices too expensive. So we decided not to do horseback riding nor ziplining. Ripping us off!
We were stuck in traffic at the South Luzon Expressway. We dropped Monse and Jesse at Megamall at 6-ish. We then dropped Jess off at her house. Her dad lent papa Slumdog Millionaire (finally, he can finish watching the movie as he failed to finish it on the plane going to the US -- going home, we didn't have individual screens, so he wasn't able to fnish it on the plane going home).

Back to Reality?
I had a chance to talk to my friend EC before I left the Philippines again. He also went on exchange in Singapore, same time as I had my exchange program. While I went to NUS, he went to NTU (Nanyang Technological University). I was telling him about how I have to face 7 modules each semester, and on top of that, I have my teaching/training duties for MTG and AMO, and therefore making it hard to head a project.
He sort of mentioned that now that we're back to the Philippines, we're "back to reality." I immediately agreed to his statement.
Thinking about it now, that statment might be flawed (no offese EC :p).
If we are back to reality now, then it implies that our Singapore stint wasn't reality. In a way this might be true, as we were there studying 3 or 4 (or 5 for NTU) modules, on a pass/fail basis. However, I refuse to believe that Singapore was yet another fragment of non-reality, for everything that happened in Singapore is real to me.
I was able to study for real, go around Southeast Asia for real, and more importantly, I was able to make real, genuine friends, which I won't forget "until the day that I die". I must say that in a way, going to Singapore is an escape from the Philippines (not reality in it's entirety).
Singapore was real, and reality is always happening, no matter where one is.

May 12: I'm OMW, so I'll TTYL
Monse and Yushi introduced two new acronyms to me when I was in Singapore.
Monse once texted OMW, which means "On My Way". I didn't know what it meant, so I asked Monse about it. What a shame on my part right?
Yushi used TTYL in chat a lot. When he first used it, I was like "huh? what do you mean?" and he gave me the meaning: "Talk To You Later".
It's funny how new acronyms can make life harder and easier at the same time. I guess I'll be using these acronyms more often now. I'm getting used to it anyway. Haha.
So what happened today?
I woke-up early to finish packing. Jess, papa and I brought our things to the foyer at around 9:30. I brought Jess' luggage up the stairs since it lost one wheel. Ate Jenny helped us carry some stuff. Thanks Ate Jenny for all the help this semester!
Jess tried to bring my 32-kg luggage up the incline, but she can't do it. Good thing Kuya Vince from the Western stall was there. He helped us in bringing the heavy luggage up the stairs.
We stayed at the AC Caf for a while to eat and rest. At 10, papa and I the remaining bags in the guestroom and brought it to the AC Caf before we checked-out at the check-out counters. Jesse and Roy arrived at the AC Caf soon after. Actually, Jesse was already at the AC Caf when papa and I returned to the caf. Ate Mu was also there, since she was bringing us to the airport.
Thanks Jesse and Roy for sending us off! I hope you enjoy your last few month/s there in Singapore. Thanks for being good friends to us. I hope to see more of you soon. Let's always keep in touch and may God bless you always!
We arrived at the airport early. Papa and I weighed our baggaes and found it to be 10 kgs overweight. Jess' luggage was also overweight. So since Jess wasn't carrying any heavy handcarry, I asked her if it's possible for us to "morph" her bag, by using the extra handcarry bag we have, to carry the extra few kgs overweight. She agreed. Yey!
We checked-in at the counters once they were open. I called Yushi up to tell him that I've already checked-out. I would have called later on but then it was already early morning in canada, so I decided to call at that time so that I won't be much of a disturbance. Jess then went with her friends who came to the airport to send her off. Gwen and Jess asked her friend to take home some stuff, since Gwen had a big overweight baggage. I then went to the GST counter to claim my GST refund.
Jess went with her friends to breeks to eat. Smile's friends went ahead to the Departure Hall, while the rest of us with papa and Ate Mu went downstairs to the Kaya Toast Restaurant. At 1:30, we proceeded to the Departure Hall and waited for Jess to go down to grab her handcarry luggages. Monse went with her back to her friends.
Ate Mu waited outside for Jess. To Ate Mu: Thank you for being such a jolly and wonderful friend to us. You never make us feel that we're anything different. Thank you for all the help and for bringing us around as well in the latter days. I enjoyed your company and you are really a jolly person. Keep on being jolly. Ilang beses ko ginamit ang jolly? HAHA!
We went through immigration and realized that we didn't have to surrended our Student Pass. Yey! We then went to the GST counters to refund our money. My money was reimbursed to my credit card. Great! I'll get it from my sister soon. I called Karina up just to say goodbye, and told her that I'm gonna call again when Jess is already with me.
I called Monse up for one final goodbye, and I passed the cellphone to everyone. When it was Gwen's turn, she began crying. Oh Gwen, we won't forget your emotional moments.
While we were on the airplane, I happened to help Elizabeth Oropesa with her luggage. Great. When we were seated, Jess and I called Karina from Indonesia. We were on the phone even when the plane was already moving. Haha. Pasaway!
I don't get why the stewardesses didn't check before the plane started moving. It was kinda weird. While on the plane, I wasn't able to eat anything as they didn't have vegetarian food. Great. It was a good thing that I ate Kaya Toast before boarding the plane. I hope this won't happen to me in my next trip.
We then landed and went through the health check, which basically is just this gun-like temperature screening. It's not much of a hassle though. We then got our luggages from the conveyor belt. Although we were the first one to get our things, it was actually us who left the airport last. We took photos and said our goodbyes. No more sadness guys! We'll surely see each other somehow, anyway. I'll miss you guys!
My sister and mom were waiting outside for us. Papa and my sister went to the car ahead to bring the luggages. Mom and I waited for everyone to exit the airport before we went to the car. We then proceeded to my grandma's house to say hello to everyone. We then ate at this Chinese Restaurant, North Park. I ate tofu and century egg porridge. Yum.
As soon as we got home, mom began unpacking my luggage. I rested for a bit, talked in YM with some people. I ended up sleeping at 11 PM. That's early for my usual sleeping time in Singapore is in the early morning. Yey, I'm starting to fix my sleeping habits again!
Monse once texted OMW, which means "On My Way". I didn't know what it meant, so I asked Monse about it. What a shame on my part right?
